Sustainable Packaging: goodbye polluting plastics!

Updated: Apr 8

There are no excuses for not investing in sustainable packaging today. The solutions are available, and as business owners, we must make responsible choices. In this post, I highlight a few outstanding companies that I frequently recommend to my clients for their brand packaging needs.

EcoEnclose

My personal favorite! I first discovered EcoEnclose packaging when receiving a Christy Dawn garment order. The packaging, which perfectly aligns with Christy's branding values, caught my attention. Since then, EcoEnclose's commitment to circularity, innovation, and transparency has inspired me. Sustainability is truly a guiding principle here. I'm particularly thrilled by their offerings using algae inks, bio-based plastics from sustainably grown sugarcane—carbon sequestering, and recyclable—and protective packaging solutions like Flexi-Hex®.

Noissue

Noissue offers a fantastic option for sustainable packaging and printed materials, providing low minimum quantities that make it affordable for small businesses to have on-brand visuals. This is perfect for many of the clients I serve, as they offer a wide range of products, including boxes, bags, tissue paper, ribbons, and stamps. One aspect I particularly appreciate is that their stickers are made from FSC-certified, acid-free paper, which is both compostable and recyclable.

Vela

A recent addition to my resource guide is Vela™, a sustainable and recyclable paper packaging solution designed to replace poly bags and help combat plastic pollution. Manufactured by Seaman Paper, Vela™ is a compostable and weather-resistant paper that effectively protects products from humidity and moisture during transit.

The time for polluting plastics is over!  As consumers and business owners we need to lead by example.

As a packaging designer specialist, I can help my clients find solutions to reduce their environmental impact through wiser choices, waste reduction, minimal packaging, and guidance on how to avoid plastic without necessarily increasing their budgets.
